Qualifications to be a Commissioner
Must be a qualified voter in Rapides Parish not entitled to assistance in voting.
Must not be a candidate for election to public office or be a member of the immediate family of a candidate for public office in the precinct you are to serve.
Must not have been convicted of an election offense.
Must successfully complete a course of instruction provided by the Clerk of Court.
Must provide the Clerk of Court with correct party affiliation.
Must not be a law enforcement officer.

The responsibilities of a Commissioner
Complete a general course of instruction and attend any pre-election class required.
Working election day from 5:30 a.m. to approximately 8:30 p.m.
Setting up and operating the voting machines during the day.
Identifying voters, determining ballot selection and handling all election paperwork.
Enforcement of election laws.
Closing the machine and completing any paperwork that needs to be deliver to the Clerk.

Certified commissioner pay
$200.00 per election for commissioners.
$250.00 per election for commissioners-in-charge.
